Software Defined Storage

Software Defined Storage

Software-Defined Storage (SDS) is an evolving concept where server-based storage software manages policy-based provisioning and management of data storage independent of hardware. Software Defined Storage may be implemented via appliances over a traditional storage area network (SAN), or implemented as part of a scale-out network-attached storage (NAS) solution, or as the basis of an object-based storage solution. As with traditional SAN and NAS, storage performance is still a top priority.

How VirtualWisdom Helps Ensure Software Defined Storage Performance Goals

  • Risk Mitigation, enabling Performance-Based SLAs: Baseline and validate existing SLAs and ensure sizing and SLA commitments are still maintained once applications are moved into a Software Defined Storage infrastructure.
  • End-to-end Visibility for Application Service Assurance: Track and monitor software defined storage performance from an application through the host / VM, and storage infrastructure, and pinpoint and resolve emergent issues before they become problems.
  • Improve Availability through Proactive Problem Resolution and Avoidance:       Proactive problem identification and resolution reduces manual triage and expedites remediation
